Owner, Joshua Bishop started The Whalesbone Oyster Catering & Co. in 2001. Working from his parents home, the company assets consisted of a rowboat and a refridgerated trailer. The Whalesbone was in motion, catering backyard parties, weddings, and the odd funeral - with oysters.
Lots has changed since then........
We still cater an awful lot of parties, but now it is far more than just oysters.
We have a famous little oyster house in the heart of Centertown in the nations capital at 430 Bank St.
Additionally at 504A Kent St our wholesale operation supplies a number of quality restaurants from Kingston to Montreal. And from the same adress our retail Oyster & Fish Supply purveys quality and sustainable products to the public. |
The Oyster House on Bank St has become renowned for quality oysters and an outstanding kitchen brigade. Quite simply our kitchen has seen a lot of talent, it is currently outstanding - really.
The atmosphere is not for everyone. In fact it is intended to come across quite rustic and nostagic with a bit of hillbilly funk. Some call it loud - we call it lively. The place is a shoe box - really - and so do not be surprised if you into elbow room only, getting to know the folks next to you. It is a kind of experience you may not forget too soon.
Leave you guns and pants at the door.
Enjoy. Thanks. |
